Between the ages of six and fourteen years, most children will have had some interaction with sport or played in a sports setting. Most children will have a specific way they like to play sport or in most cases have an idol that they aspire to play like.
At Mavericks London we will work on the basic principles of that particular sport, in order to build on the foundations that many children already have. All sessions will be FUN for any children participating, if children are not having fun they will not want to continue to play and will drop out of sport.
We will work on communication, CABs (co-ordination, agility & balance), teamwork and independent thinking in a fun environment in relation to sport.
Making mistakes are extremely important, in the development of children within this age group in a sporting environment. Mavericks London coaches will encourage children, to learn after they have made a mistake using
open ended questions (WHAT, WHY & HOW).
– WHY did that not work?
– WHAT will you do next time you are in that situation?
– WHY did we do that particular drill?
– WHAT did you learn from that drill?
– HOW are you going to use it in a game situation?
We will always encourage and acknowledge when a child does something good and every session will build on previous sessions; this will allow steady progression within that particular sport through reinforced learning.
As with all Mavericks London sessions we will continue to ensure that we build on the foundation of our
“Practice makes Permanent” philosophy.
